Teacher spotlight is on the incredible Mrs. Casillas in Pre-K4!
She was caught in circle time with her students as they enjoyed learning about feelings. She teaches Emotion Words: It gives children the specific words they need to talk about what is happening inside them. The students were engaged and participated in the pre-vocabulary lesson before she read the book “The Way I Feel”.
Keep up the great work Mrs. Casillas and students! Shout out to Teacher Aide - Ms. Gallegos who was prepping the rotation centers for the students while they were engaged in the lesson.

Students from J.W. Nixon High School woke up bright and early and reported to J.C. Martin Elementary School. Nixon High varsity football players, cheerleaders and band members lined up to greet students at the drop-off. They gave high-fives, handshakes, words of encouragement and posed for pictures with the young students as they started their school day. Some students even stopped and tried on the players helmets.

Today the Texas Education Agency officially announced that Laredo ISD has earned two A’s. The annual ratings show that LISD earned an A in Academic Accountability with a district score of 90. Overall campus ratings for LISD’s 28 schools include 18 A’s and 10 B’s. No LISD campus earned a C or D. LISD also earned an A in finance through their Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) rating.

Checkmate! LISD’s named its top chess players after a fierce competition this past Saturday at the LISD PAC in the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center. The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted an All-Star Chess Tournament for the district’s All-Star chess players. The top 10 winners were recognized with either a trophy or medal for their accomplishments.
Laredo ISD recognized its Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year and Clerical and Instructional Paraprofessional of the Year nominees during the district’s Employee of the Year Banquet which was held at the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.
